Haggerston Castle

If you are not feeling very active (we all know holidays can be relaxing as well…), Haggerston Castle provides a full programme of entertainment for the daytime as well as the evening with regular staging of family shows and events. Alnwick Castle
Just a few miles down the road lies Alnwick Castle, an amazing and imposing medieval castle with a history that offers plenty of drama and intrigue. Recently most renowned for its appearance in the Harry Potter movie franchise as well as ‘Elizabeth’ and the inimitable Blackadder. That aside Alnwick Castle has much more to offer as a tourist attraction – history, fine art, fantastic scenery, fun for the children.
Northumberland Coast
Nothumberland coast is studded with clean beaches, islands and broad stretches of silver sand. Heralded as ‘The Best Kept Secret’ in England, this the most northerly county, covers an area of some 1935 square miles. Adjacent with the Scottish Borders and the North Sea, the 100 mile long Northumberland Coast is a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB).
Lindisfarne
To round off the hilights of your Northumberland excursion we have to mention The Holy Island of Lindisfarne, the focal point of England’s Christian heritage. The magnificent 16th century Lindisfarne Castle dominates the rocky outcrop on which the island stands, cut-off from the mainland twice a day by the North Sea in an Area of Oustanding Natural Beauty. This romantic, enchanting Tudor Fort is packed to the turrets with small rooms full of intimate decoration and design, with views of the walled garden designed by Gertude Jekyll and stunning coastal panoramas.
